Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1,  Arrive Guwahati

Arrive Guwahati and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon/Evening visit Kamakhya Temple, on Nilachal hill, 08 kms west of Guwahati city, is one of the most venerated shaktipeeths in India. The temple is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya an incarnation of Sati. It is on Nilachal hill, says the Shiva Purana, that the yoni or creative organ of Sati fell when Vishnu, in a bid to save the world from the Shiva’s tandava nrittya or dance of destruction, cut her dead body into 51 pieces with his suddarshan chakra. The garbhagriha deep inside the temple, marks the sacred spot and is kept covered with red silken cloth. O/n hotel.

Day 2,  Guwahati – Shillong via Umden village (approx. 160 kms/4-5 hrs.)

After breakfast drive to Shillong via Umden village also called Silk village of Meghalaya, where you can see and experience the farming of Silk worm and weaving the silk, see the traditional weaving and dying of colors not with chemicals but with bio and natural way of dying with tree leaves, turmeric, fruits etc. After visiting Umden village continue your drive to Shillong & enroute stopover at Umiam lake to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area and we on arrival in Shillong transfer to your hotel for overnight stay. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3,   Shillong – Cherrapunjee (approx. 55 kms/1 hrs.)

After breakfast drive to Cherrapunji with enroute visit of Shillong Peak (highest peak of Shillong city) and Elephant Water Falls. Later continue to Cherrapunji and on arrival visit Arwah Caves & Nohkalikai Water Falls. After lunch in your hotel we visit Mawsmai Cave & Seven Sisters water fall (one of the longest in India). Overnight in Hotel at Cherrapunjee.

Day 4,  Cherrapunjee – Dawki – Mawllynnong – Shillong (approx. 90+110 kms/6-7 hrs.)

After breakfast we straight drive to Dawki – Indo Bangladesh border village and enjoy boating (on direct basis) on Asia’s cleanest river Umngot. Later drive back to Mawyllnonng-cleanest village in Asia and visit Single decker living root bridge inside the jungle at Riwai village (2 kms from Mawyllnonng). Later visit and enjoy the locally made watch tower, made up of bamboos in Mawyllnonng vilalge. This watch tower gives you 360 degree view of the surrounding area. Afternoon drive back to Shillong for your overnight stay.

Day 5,  Shillong – Kaziranga NP (approx. 280 kms/5-6 hrs.)

Morning after breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Park, famous for its one horn Rhinos. Arrive Kaziranga and transfer to your hotel with evening free to relax. O/n hotel.

Kaziranga National Park is spread over 850 sq kms across Golaghat, Nagaon and Sonitpur districts. Kaziranga National Park is also designated World Natural Heritage sites by UNESCO in 1985. Originally established as a reserve forest in 1908, Kaziranga was declared a sanctuary in 1916 to counter excessive poaching, especially of its most prized inhabitant, the rhinoceros.

IMP NOTE: Kaziranga National Park is officially closed between 01st May TILL 31st October every year.

Day 6,   Kaziranga NP

Early morning enjoy Elephant safari to visit central range of the park. Return back to your hotel for breakfast. After breakfast your fist Jeep safari in Western zone of the park. Afternoon after lunch enjoys your last Jeep safari into the Central zone of the park. O/n Hotel.

Jeep Safari Timings:

Morning Safari starts between 07.00 am till 09.30 am for 02 hours.

Afternoon Safari starts between 01.30 pm till 03.30 pm for 02 hours.

Elephant Safari Timings:

Central Zone of the park at 05.30 am and at 06.30 am for 40 minutes respectively.

Day 7,    Kaziranga NP – Jorhat (approx. 90 kms/2-3 hrs.)

After relaxed breakfast we drive to Jorhat – Tea country of India. On arrival in Jorhat we visit Tocklai Tea Research Center – 09 kms away from Jorhat town is the oldest and largest institution dedicated to tea research in the world-Tocklai Tea Research Centre. It was in 1911 when this pioneer institute was incorporated and since then research on tea cultivation and processing has been carried out here, making it a significant contender for nomination as an institution of National Importance. This institute is situated in Assam’s first tea estate, Cinnamora.

Later transfer to your hotel Tea Resort for a relaxed afternoon & evening. Overnight in Tea Resort.

Day 8,   Jorhat – Majuli Island (approx. 25 kms/45 mins + 1 ½ hrs. ferry)

After an early breakfast drive to Nimati Ghat (near Jorhat, approx. 25 kms/45 mins) and then board on Public ferry (country boat fitted with motor). Cruise for approx. 1 ½ hrs to reach Majuli.

Majuli is the largest fresh Water mid-river deltoid island in the world. It is situated in the upper reaches of the river Brahmaputra in Assam. This Island, with a population of 1.6 Lakhs, majority being tribal, is endowed with rich heritage and has been the abode of the neo-vaishnavite culture. The island is a bio-diversity hotspot and has rich ecology with rare species of flora and fauna.

Majuli for the past five centuries has been the cultural capital of Assam. The main depositories of cultural and spiritual heritage are the Sattras, which are just like Gurukul (hermitages) of yore. Here up to 400 celibates’ stay for life preserving spiritual and cultural heritage, renouncing worldly desires. From the time of the great Vaishnavite renaissance of 14th and 15th century AD, under Srimanta Sankardeva, Srimanta Madhab Deva and other saints this island became the seat of Vaishnavite religion, art and culture. The famous Satriya Nritya (Dance) and Ankiya Bhaona (Traditional Drama) created by Sankardeva are now Internationally acclaimed and Nationally honoured. Majuli is equally famous for Tribal Folk Culture and Heritage. It is said to be the cradle of Missing and Deori cultures.

On arrival visit Samuguri Satra famous for making life size mask used during the performance by the artists. Later visit Uttar Kamalabari Satra – Oldest Satra in Majuli Island. After lunch in a local restaurant we walk around a Mishing tribal village and Overnight at Majuli.

Day 9,  Majuli Island – Sivsagar (approx. 1 hrs. cruise + 65 kms/2 hrs. drive)

Morning after breakfast transfer to Kamalabari Ghat to catch your return ferry to Nimatighat. Arrive Nimatighat and straight drive to Sivsagar.

Sivasagar was the capital of the Ahom rulers from 1228 to 1826 AD. Sivasagar got its present name from Sivasagar Tank, excavated by the Ahom queen Ambika. The tank was named after her husband, Shiva Singha. Sivasagar tank is also known as Borpukhuri, literally, big lake. Shiva Dol, Vishnu Dol and Devi Dol are the three temples on the banks of Sivasagar.

On arrival in Sivasagar we visit Rang Ghar Monument–the royal observatory & Talatal Ghar-Old Palace. After our lunch in a local restaurant we visit Shiva/Vishnu & Durga Temple complex & Sivasagar Tank etc. Later check-in into your hotel for Overnight at hotel.

Day 10,  Sivsagar – Mon (approx. 130 kms/4-5 hrs.)

Morning after breakfast drive to Mon, Nagaland into Konyak Headhunters Tribes of Nagaland region. After clearing Naga Police/Indian Army check-posts and visiting Phukthong Village Morung we arrive Mon and transfer to your resort. After our lunch we report at Office of Superintendent Of Police for foreigner registration. Overnight in resort.

Day 11,  Mon

After breakfast visit Longwa Village bordering India and Burma. Situated about 40 km from the district headquarters of Mon. Longwa is one of the biggest villages in the district. Some portion of this village lies in India and some in Myanmar. However, it is controlled by a chief known as Angh. Half of the house of the chief falls in India and the other half in Myanmar. The lucky villagers have two citizenships, one from India and the other one from Burma. It is the place where coal mine was discovered in 1907. A visit to the village will acquaint you with the culture of the tribe. They are skilled in making exquisite handicrafts.

Afternoon visit Hongpoi Village, here also you will find tattooed Konyaks.

Day 12,  Mon – Dibrugarh (approx. 170 kms/5-6 hrs.)

After breakfast we drive down to Dibrugarh and on arrival transfer to your Chang Bungalow for overnight stay. Evening free to relax.

Day 13,  Dibrugarh – Namphake/Taiphake – Dibrugarh

After breakfast we drive approx. 37 kms/1 hrs from Dibrugarh town to Nampakhe village in the riverine area of buridihing, home to a small population of Tai Phake. All of the people are Buddhist in religion. The village folk speak a dialect similar to the language in Thailand and still follow the traditional custom and dress code of the great Tai race.

Afternoon return back to Dibrugarh and after lunch in local restaurant we visit the oldest vegetable market of the town by walk before we checked in into our hotel for overnight.

Day 14,    Dibrugarh – Delhi/Kolkata FLY

Morning after relaxed breakfast transfer to Dibrugarh airport on time to catch your flight to onward destination.
